Proposal for a construction system of a microarchitecture and furnitures applied to any social context, using local techniques and materials and developed through an open dialogue with local communities. The simplicity of the system, combined with the transfer of knowledge, enables communities to independently generate various solutions. The micro-architectural system is composed by a solid wood primary frame which sets the design of the elevations with a constant rhythm and allows a series of panels to slide within it. In the occasion of Porto Design Biennale this system has been adapted while maintaining its construction logic, materials, and joints, but modifying its dimensions and proportions to meet usage requirements and geographical context. “Pole Pole” which means “slowly” in Swahili is a tribute to slow living, to taking the right amount of time to do, build, and plan together, to taking care of the project and those who will use it, but also to the sense of community that is established when individual components act as active and conscious factors in creating a community.
