Mathare is a furniture collection developed around a construction system that ensures stability through a sequence of interlocking joints between its components. Each element plays a crucial role in creating the structure, resulting in a formal synthesis where anything unnecessary or purely decorative is eliminated. The cross-section of the components follows a repetitive logic, applied consistently to legs, crossbars, and stretchers, optimizing the production process. In this way, the concept of joinery, traditionally and rightfully associated with intricate woodworking techniques, is reinterpreted. It retains its sense of craftsmanship and refinement, thanks to the absence of visible nails or screws, while also becoming simple and intuitive to assemble.
